Michael J. Keller: Biographical Sketch

 

Prior to his retirement in 2008, Michael J. Keller had 31 years of experience in institutional research in postsecondary education, most of it at the state level in Maryland. He joined the Maryland Higher Education Commission as a research specialist in 1982, was named associate director of policy analysis and research in 1991 and director in 1993. He served as director of student affairs research at Miami University from 1976 to 1982. Dr. Keller holds a Ph.D. and M.A. from Miami University and a B.S.J. from Ohio University.

Dr. Keller authored dozens of research studies in postsecondary education. He coordinated the state performance accountability process in Maryland, directed the yearly Managing for Results process for the Commission, developed and implemented a model for projecting enrollments at public campuses, coordinated statewide surveys of graduates from community colleges and four-year institutions, developed statewide education data books, and played a major role in the preparation of two statewide plans for postsecondary education. He is the co-author of a textbook, Understanding Political Science, has published four journal articles, and has made 45 presentations at professional conferences.
